Pnyx Write-A-Thon

Pnyx is hosting a write-a-thon for the month of August! You can write whatever you want pertaining to the ancient world, but if you need help, we have some prompts and will be there to help along the way. Feel free to join at any point in August.

 

Submissions from the write-a-thon will be published in the Fall 2024 edition of Pnyx. Please see guidelines below.

We are still accepting submissions to Pnyx separate from the write-a-thon.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Ancient themed content: Original artwork, essays, opinion pieces, music, videos, poems, and more!

  • Artwork submission guidelines: 

    • must list mediums 

    • 300 ppi

    • 1400x1400 pixels max dimension

    • PNG or JPEG

  • Written word submissions should be under 10,000 words with citations 

    • In-text preferable, but not required

    • Endnote citations. Due to layout, all footnotes will be made into endnotes. 

    • If your piece is over 5,000 words, please indicate if it can be serialized and where the breaks should be.

  • Submissions should not be published in any other publications or submitted to other publications

  • Music should be .mp3 or .wav

  • Video should be .mov or .mp4

  • Recurring submissions are allowed

  • With every submission please provide:

    • Your name

    • A 100 word bio

    • A brief summary of your work

    • How your work relates to the ancient world

    • Any social media handles you would like tagged or mentioned

    • Please indicate whether we may feature your submission on our social media (with proper accreditation) 

  • No simultaneous submissions.
